DESABAU is a certified specialist waste management company based in Dillenburg, Germany. For around three decades, the company has specialised in the compliant handling of asbestos, mineral wool and other demanding construction waste streams. Our expertise combines practical waste management experience with the development of new treatment processes and material flow solutions.

A central focus is REMIWO®, DESABAU’s system for the material-specific treatment of mineral wool waste. It distinguishes between non-hazardous and hazardous mineral wool and applies a dedicated treatment process to each waste stream. Non-hazardous mineral wool is processed into a compacted mineral fraction, reducing its volume by at least 90% and significantly improving transport, handling and disposal efficiency.
Hazardous mineral wool is treated through a patented combination of mechanical and chemical process stages designed to destroy WHO-relevant fibre fractions and create the basis for further processing in line with circular-economy principles. REMIWO® therefore offers an alternative to conventional disposal routes and enables a more efficient and resource-conscious approach to mineral wool waste.

The REMIWO® Units platform is modular, scalable and adaptable to different waste streams, operating locations and project sizes. The REMIWO® Container Unit processes non-hazardous mineral wool, while the REMIWO® Trailer Unit, currently in development, is intended for the integrated treatment of hazardous mineral wool. Mobile, standardised units enable treatment close to the point of generation, flexible capacity planning and predictable operating models without relying on large stationary plants.
