N³ Thinking ahead (N³ Nachhaltigkeitsberatung Dr. Friege & Partner) is a German consultancy of highly experienced experts in all areas of sustainability.

At ECOMONDO we promote the results of 25 recently finished research projects from the funding measure "Resource-efficient Circular Economy - Innovative Product Cycles" (ReziProK) of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

The aim of the research projects was to close product cycles by developing appropriate business models, design concepts and digital technologies and thus to contribute to the implementation of a resource-efficient circular economy.

The projects address a broad range of topics and sectors:

- Promotion of the use of recycled materials
- Extension or intensification of product use
- Improving the recyclability of electric vehicles
- Optimization and expansion of remanufacturing
- General developments on the topic of block chain

praxPACK - Reusable packaging solutions in the mail order business​

Online shopping is growing steadily. The products are mostly packed in disposable packaging, which is disposed of by the end consumer. This system leads to a relevant consumption of resources and corresponding amounts of waste. Practical reusable systems for packaging in online and mail-order trade - as conceived, developed and tested in praxPACK - can make a considerable contribution to reducing the packaging-related consumption of resources and the amount of waste.

CbD - Circular by Design

A recyclable product design for refrigerators/freezers that is both energy and resource efficient was the main goal of CbD. Different scenarios were developed with the focus on repair and reuse as well as recycling paths that are as closed as possible. The combination of the resource efficiency analysis with a multi-regional extended input-output model allows estimating product recyclability already at the design stage, thereby supporting a Design-for-Recycling optimization.

ConCirMy - Configurator for the Circular Economy

So far, only a small proportion of end-of-life (EOL) tyres is used as recycled material for the production of new tyres. The project has investigated whether and how tyres can be optimised. A tool was developed to provide information on environmental compatibility to various stakeholders in the supply chain which can be taken into account in purchasing decisions.
